St. Louis (Where's the other half of the McDonald's sign?)

I just got home this morning, 4 runs with my new carrier and so far not too bad. The only bad thing was that, I did have to wait the weekend in Fenton, Missouri. I delivered Friday Morning to St Louis South Assembly (Chrysler). Then Monday I got a load going from St Louis North Assembly (Next door to the South plant) to the Detroit Jeep Plant on Plymouth Rd near schaefer. They already have me booked on one picking up tomorrow morning in Spring Lake Michigan (West of Grand Rapids) going back to Winston-Salem North Carolina. I'll try and post again from down in OL' Tobacco Road.

My Six Point Buck

I got this Rack going through Ohio between Toledo and Fort Wayne Indiana on US 24. I am quite a sportsman, I got it using only a little saw on my Swiss Army Knife. Ok it was already lying there dead. I've always wanted some rattling antlers, and since I am not a great hunter like Del, I had to resort to being a scavenger to get a pair.

Home On Tuesday night

I took this pic in Louisiana last week, I liked the shadowing. I signed on with a new carrier last week, they say their drivers average more miles per week. I felt really bad about leaving my last carrier(Really good people there). I hope this works out. I went to North Carolina Sunday then they got me a load right back home a few hours later. A good start anyway.

Louisiana Strange Place

Along this highway between Shreveport and Texarcana, there is this place I always shake my head at. They have a big deck on top of a smaller shed surrounded by junk. They do have an umbrella and a patio set up there, so I say "All the junks been arranged, the D-con's all put out, looks like a nice night, ITS MILLER TIME!"

Tiger Stadium Destruction

On my way to North Carolina on sunday I stopped by Michigan and Trumbull to see how the Ol' Ballpark looked. I guess Ernie Harwell is trying to save what is left. I hope they do, the stands from 1st to 3rd base are still up. If they were to put sides up to cover where it was cut apart, maybe it could be used for college games, high schools championships, little league championships or maybe a minor league team. A few more pics of Tiger Stadium follow.

Brooks Lumber and Banner Linen

Kirk Gibson hit at least one Home Run over the right field roof and into Brooks Lumber. I think a couple of others might have done it too. Well it wouldn't have to go as high to do it now the Right Field stands are LONG GONE! The building behind Brooks that you can see a little of just under the billboard was Banner Linen Service where I worked from 1988-1992.

Chix on Dix

It's all in the name. If you wonder how a city would let a topless joint open with a name like this, it is located on Dix Highway. NO I DID NOT GO IN.

Over 22 years of wedded bliss.

Hello from Laredo, Texas

I guess Bigfoot lives near Devine, Texas. I passed this sign between San Antonio and Laredo, Texas.
I got a load out of Shreveport on tuesday afternoon. Well actually It was out of Mena, Arkansas. I had to go 240 miles to get it. It came here to Laredo, Texas. I made my delivery on Wednesday (yesterday) now back to the waiting game. I really hope they get me out of here soon, I'd really like to get some more miles on this weeks check. It is also hot down here and I have to idle during the daytime which eats up the profits. My wife(Mrs. Hottie) is so unreasonable, On the C.B. radio some guy advertises trips over the border for 25 bucks! She said I can't go. Jeez it just goes over to an area known as Boystown, they say it's a red light district, whatever that is. I don't know what her problem is with me doing a little red light sightseeing over there. I'm sure the lights must be real nice if they have a whole district of them.

Toby Keith Truck in Shreveport

This truck came through the Flying J in Shreveport just before I left out for Laredo, Texas. I imagine it carries the Instruments and lighting equipment for his shows.

Greetings from Shreveport, Louisiana

Stupid Dog Get Your Paws On the Wheel And Get in Your Own Lane

I guess It is no big accomplishment, driving to Shreveport is so easy even a dog can do it! Well at least I got here without busting my passenger side mirror, stupid dog. Go back to doing dog things like playing poker and licking yourself. I'm thinking of calling Rosedale and complaining that they are taking jobs away from us humans.

Well I made my drop this morning, then I got some sleep. It looks like I'll be here until tomorrow. I could get a load tonite, but it's almost 6pm here now, and it's slim pickings (Not Slim Picken's the actor) in the evenings.

Even Dogs know SAFETY FIRST

Always check your mirrors before backing up.

Cedar Springs A.R.P. Church, Sumter National Forest , South Carolina

I passed this church with a really old cemetary out front. I came through Sumter National Forest and then in the middle of woods there it was. I googled it and found that some of these markers that follow are pre Revolutionary War. It is a very eerie place, I just wish Kathy had been with me, I love to scare her. She's funny, she is a afraid of mutant Hillbillies ie The Hills Have Eyes. We live less than one half mile from the city of Detroit (Murder USA) and she gets scared when we are in the beautiful country, go figure.

One note: Shortly after leaving here or right before I got there (Senility is setting in I guess). I hit my first deer since I started doing this. I wasn't going very fast maybe 35, She jumped right in front of me, and I braked hard. I heard a thud and it looked like I hit her dead center in front. No damage to truck and I didn't feel my truck run her over (no antlers, so I presume it was a her). I think she went under my truck and ran away. I couldn't stop right there, it was on a curve but I didn't see her in my mirror. I think she ran out my passenger side to the woods. I was looking in my driver side mirror and never saw her after. I stopped about a quarter mile down road and didn't see any blood or any evidence that I even hit her.
